Ordering/uploading images: If you wish to order a screen based on your own artwork or digital images then you can do it three ways:
Option 1. Send me the paper version of your artwork or image with a completed order form and either a cheque or credit/debit card details. Download printable order form.
OR
Option 2. Upload a digital version of your artwork/image that is the correct size and is ready to be made into a screen, you can then pay with credit/debit/PayPal.
OR
Option 3. If you are unsure whether your image will make a good screen, or you don't want to do the conversion yourself, you can send me the image for evaluation. I will then give you my opinion and/or a price for doing the conversion for you, depending on the work involved. You don't pay anything for this evaluation.
Details for Options 2 and 3 are given below.
CUSTOM SCREENS - GENERAL INFORMATION
What types of artwork work best: Thermofax screens can be made from a very diverse range of artwork from hand drawn/painted/printed lines to manipulated digital images. Fine line work, text and so on work very well. Bear in mind that any part of the screen can be either open or closed - it can't be a 'bit' open. So images with a lot of grey or those with very close tones don't work. I find the best images are those that contain only black and white. Colour photographs usually work best if you convert them to a black and white image first rather than greyscale.
Sizes: Screens come in two sizes. Although these are called A4 and A5 the actual print area is smaller - see the measurements below:
A5 screen - maximum image size 6.5" x 3.25" (16cm x 8cm) A4 screen - maximum image size 9.5" x 6.5" (24cm x 16cm)
File Types: Digital images need to be less than 2MB in size and in one of the following formats: Jpeg (filename.jpg) Tiff (filename.tif) Photoshop (filename.psd)
If your file isn't in one of these formats you will need to convert it. In most software you open the image, go to the File menu and select either 'Save as' or 'Export to'.
Unfortunately I can't currently accept files in Mac specific formats so, if you are using a Mac you'll need to convert your files to a PC version of one of the above formats.
