Cyanotype of Tulips on silk
Welcome to the Stone Creek Silk web site:
I'm delighted to announce that my second book, Digital Imagery on Fabric, has now been published and can be purchased through my online shop. It's been a long time coming but I hope you'll find it worth the wait.
Now, on to the other things you can find on the site. I hope you'll enjoy your visit and will find something to interest you. There are ten main sections:
WORKSHOPS
I really enjoy teaching and run a series of textile workshops each year in subjects ranging from cyanotyping and digital images on fabric to batik and indigo dyeing.
In this section you'll find details of the workshops I run myself and also those I teach for other people. Please let me know if you would like to be added to my mailing list. I only send out information 2-3 times a year so you won't be inundated.
Please note that I have now amalgamated the general workshop information with the on-line bookings for workshops. If you follow any of the links to Workshops you will find all the usual pages on information for groups and guilds, information on other venues where I will be teaching along with all the information on the workshops at Stone Creek Barn, directions to the venue, local accommodation and so on.
FAIRS
A list of the craft fairs and exhibitions which I will be attending this year. Do come and see me if you are in the area.
CYANOTYPES
Cyanotyping on Fabric is the subject of my first book. A glorious mix of one of the first ever photographic techniques, combined with modern IT and textiles!
DIGITAL IMAGES
There are now many techniques that will allow you to transfer digital images on to fabric using a range of modern, inexpensive home printers. I've made a start on this page but there's much more to come.
GALLERY
A small gallery of my work with a few notes on how each of them was created. There is a lot more to add here ....
ABOUT SILK
You can find out how silk is produced and a bit about its history and its properties. There is also a section on how to look after your hand painted silk after you've bought it.
DYEING AND PAINTING
This page has an article on how to use resists in silk painting.
ODDS AND ENDS
Odds and Ends is self explanatory - it's all the bits that didn't fit into other sections of the site! There is some information on my favourite textile and design books, some information on the Guilds I belong to; Brigantia, Made in Yorkshire, the Batik Guild and the Guild of Silk Painters.
For those of you who have been curious about my address, Sunk Island, there's a section on the area's history and how the name came about.
LINKS
Here are links to some of my favourite textile artists, suppliers etc.
CONTACT INFO
Finally, if you have any comments about what you'd like to see on the site or things you do and don't like, please contact me via the Contact page. I'd love to hear from you!
